Ruru's Year 6's Visit to Tiaora QE II

On the 28th of May our Year 6 students had the privilege of getting to enjoy the new Tiaora QE II, before it officially opens to the public on the 1st of June. Here are some photos of them enjoying the pools and the hydroslide.

Cultural Art

Ruru have been enjoying exploring art in different cultures. 
Here are some pictures. R1 are exploring koru. R2 are looking at Samoan siapo. R3 are exploring the South African 'Big 5)' and R4 are looking at Japanese cherry blossom.

ANZAC

During the first week of term we focused all of our learning around ANZAC.
We really enjoyed writing about an ANZAC video we watched and lots of interesting war gear that Whaea Rhiannon's brother let us borrow. 

CRT

On Tuesday Ruru goes to CRT. Each term we go during a different block.
This term we go in the afternoon block. We go to do either P.E and Music
or Art and Te Reo Māori.

In P.E we have been learning some skills in softball.

At Art we have been designing 3D bedrooms.
For Music we have been learning how to play the ukulele and recorder.
Lastly in Te Reo Māori we have been doing a virtual mihimihi.
We thank the four teachers Adrienne, Mrs Hadfield, Whaea Sonya and
Ms Travis for their hard work and making our CRT time so enjoyable.
